We Are Not Built For Lies
Jan 28, 2026There’s no prescription that prepares you for getting attacked just 3 months after you finally found freedom. You cracked the code in your own C-PTSD and trauma recovery from childhood, after having a mind trapped from a suppressed memory for 15 years and then — life. (Or, if you believe satan is real — dude really tried to take me down. But that's just how he works — he attacks you when and where it matters most.) I don't know that I'm the first person to actively do the work, taking a fine-tooth comb through my psyche to recover my suppressed memories through voice-work, but because I was attacked just shortly afterward, it gives me the feeling that my method to healing was one of a way-maker. If the devil could take me out, that would mean anyone else who needs my help would remain trapped... until another way-maker came along. And just so it's clear, facing an adverse experience after recovering your suppressed memories is not likely and is certainly not guaranteed. The only thing about doing this at all is that it will "bring you back" to the place that you were when the experience happened -- for me, that was 15 years old on the side of the street vulnerable and alone.
The thing about becoming a victim to something horrific, is that you’re forced into a position to hold a truth that one: you never asked or were searching for; two: it's a heavy truth that needs to breathe; and three: it's something that NO ONE wants to LOOK at, which is exactly what's needed in order to move past it: witnessing. The experience needs to breathe — it cannot be suffocated in your psyche, your body and nervous system. Let it out. Not aggressively, on other people, share it with them. Have your experience — rinse and repeat, and you'll be past it in no time.
These experiences need to breathe because they are inevitably tagged with a lot of lies that are easy to fall into believing and living by, where our lives are determined by our beliefs. These experiences are also huge waves of energy that we as humans, are not made to carry on our own. We are not designed to hold onto trauma -- or the lies that come with them. Studies have been done on this, and you can even test this in real-time with a friend. Hold your arm out and lie about something that your friend asks you about, while your friend pushes down on your arm. Your arm will be noticeably weaker, with less ability to push against the resistance of your friend's hand. Repeat this exercise, but state the truth, and you will see how much stronger you are at pushing back against your friend's hand.
We're not built for lies. Lies weaken our spirit, our minds, our bodies, our nervous systems. That's just on an individual scale. At large, what do you think this does to a family, a community, a business, a country? Lies weaken one's sense of reality, because instead of walking in full strength as they could be, they are tolerating toxicity; negligence; abuse; etc. They are tolerating abandonment of the truth. There is no freedom if you are living in an entanglement of lies. And if I can be real with you, as a U.S. citizen? If we are going to be one nation under God, free? We must be brave enough to face the truths of our life experiences without harming others. That is the only way forward.
As someone who's adopted the "1 step back to go three steps forward" I can tell you, and it's also been proven with my clients, that doing this works. Seeing what unresolved trauma does to you firsthand: addiction, self-loathing, inconsistency -- you can make the brave decision to "go back" and process what got buried so that you can move on without. That's where your liberation is -- it's in showing up for yourself in every area of your life where you were let down, abused, abandoned, neglected, taken advantage of. If you allow the guilt and shame of those experiences to dictate where you are headed, you are living life enslaved to the lies that are tagged onto those experiences.
Don't let that be you — you were not built for lies.
You were built for life, creativity and growth.
If this resonates with you, then I invite you to join me in Amplify Your Voice, my 6-week signature program designed to help you transform challenge into launched success.
