Get Vocal - The Right Way
Jul 09, 2025
Ever come across those people who are all talk and no action?
Does it just drive you mad? Years go by, meeting after meeting is done, still no change. Still no progress in what was talked over, or, "discussed".
Well, your talk generates your walk. For those who are “all talk” though, where the talk doesn’t convert into action — something’s gone awry, because your voice is designed to convert thought into action; intent into creation.
And here begins our mystery puzzle to solve, whether that be for yourself, a friend, a loved one, an employee. The person who is “all talk” is the person who learned to misuse language, and most likely hasn’t fully developed their holistic voice (very likely, they are stuck in narcissistic behaviors).
Cause here’s the thing, your voice is your body’s regulator, communicator and navigator, in life. Think of a baby in need of something, what do they do? Cry. Not only to regulate any discomfort they are in, but to communicate to their caregivers that something is wrong. As the baby develops into their childhood, they learn language, and rely on that language to continue the first two mechanisms of their voice, but also to now, navigate their own life, by their own free will.
Think of the kid that shouts, “I want to go!” They might not have the means to transport themselves from point a to point b, but their voice is the generator to attain the means of their desire. Even if they have a bit of a wait, the kid that says, “I want to…” is actually in the driver’s seat of their existence.
Which is where I say, get vocal. You’re in the driver’s seat. It’s your body, it’s your miraculous organ, your own unique instrument, to use to create life. Your voice is the organ for your soul, the stop and go pedals for your vehicle. What you say becomes the fuel for your destination. So when talk doesn’t convert to aligned action — something is broken, but it can be fixed.
To help you understand this, just look at the book of Genesis in the Christian Bible. (Not here to sell you on any religion, this text is just the perfect example for this concept.) Verse 1:3 reads, “And God said, let there be light.” His voice, words and command is what created something. Later, He curses the life and ground that humans live and walk on with nothing else other than, His voice; His words; His command. And we were made in His image — likewise, we do just the same. There’s a reason the vocal organ takes up over half your body and activates over 100 muscles when used -- it's to regulate, communicate, navigate your life -- it's to create life. So everything you want in your life, starts with your voice, your words, and your intent -- regardless of any adverse experience you may have ever lived.
You can try this concept of using your voice to create your life, on yourself, in your workplace, on a glass of water even. When you speak words of life into something, or someone, you generate and nurture life. When you use language to dismiss, undermine or attack, you do just the opposite; you create division, opposition, aimless arguing, a lot of hurt.
So where does something go awry, where does your voice and language get misused when it comes to the people that are “all talk”. This happens when truth is dismissed, when the “what happened” moments of life are mis-categorized, misfiled in the brain, suppressed, with their importance to be addressed and processed being overlooked. These moments though, especially the traumas (trauma is truth!), are vital information, building blocks that map out a blueprint for what should be your life’s calling, your purpose, your life’s work. In short -- if you get stuck somewhere in a loop for years, it of course takes awareness to recognize, but getting stuck in a loop just means there's something under the surface that hasn't been cared for yet. There is some hidden need you need to meet, where only you can define what that is.
I found myself in a sweet-spot the past few years, recognizing that I have all the tools in the world to stay-stuck, to fall into narcissism because “I don’t want to look at it”. I know my past experiences, they are extremely painful. I know though, that if I don’t fully process them, I’m sitting on untapped potential. I’m sitting on my dreams. Cause the reality is, every trauma, every trial and injustice that has happened to you, are traps to stay stuck outside a life of abundance, blessing and goodness. So friend, look, DON’T FALL FOR THE TRAPS. I know -- it's so easy, to get trapped in the pain, the disgust, the resentment and the hurt. That’s the point. It’s easy to get stuck in a pit, when you didn’t see it coming. You get stuck in one-trap, you’ll keep reaping the same type of experience. Why? Because that's just a rule of life, you reap what you sow/what you harbor in the depths of your psyche and nervous system and spirit. It's the energy you hold onto, that is the energy you attract.
So what do we do then? Learn how to transmute. Instead, get vocal about what has happened to you, so you can release it from your system. Get vocal, with the intent to create and design your life with your stepping stones of negative experiences.
Let me lay it out for you with my own experience. I had a 15-year suppressed traumatic memory, and after about 7 years, the wear on my psyche started showing up in my body. Instead of opting to get hooked on meds for anxiety and depression in the long-term, I used them very sparingly, to re-establish a baseline and reset my circadian rhythm -- but ultimately, I got curious. (Read my full story here and learn about The Strawberry Initiative) I started asking myself what happened, knowing in my gut that the way my life looked didn’t add up when compared to my character. Anxious and depressed didn't match Brooke — something was causing these states of being, hindering my light — I just had no idea what it was. So the reality then, was that my suppressed memory was a blindspot I couldn’t see or verbalize but had all the signs and symptoms of — that something was brewing beneath the surface. That memory was keeping me stuck. In other words, it was a trauma that was keeping me trapped and working as a magnet for more trauma to come into my life.
How do you uncover a suppressed memory then? You reverse-engineer with your voice, staying curious with the intent to improve your life upon finding this valuable information. And yes, it is valuable. Without it, how would you know yourself? If you don’t know yourself, how can you then, love yourself, and love others? It took me 3 years (manual labor folks! Enroll in my condensed 40-day program I built from this experience here), but what uncovering it meant was a full unraveling of all the knots from that experience. My nervous system could start to work back to a calm baseline, because finally, I had competency of all the facts about my life. Think of this like a link on a chain of a bicycle. With the chain fully intact, where you go and your distance travelled is uncapped. But without one link? You can pedal as hard as you want but doing so doesn’t get you anywhere but stationed — immovable — spinning in place. Stuck in a psychological loop. Uncovering the missing link is what enables you to build a life outside of survival mode.
That’s why this stuff is so dang important — we have to process the events of life in time. When we don’t speak about what’s harmed us, it stays in our systems, leading to faulty functioning of the mind, body, and our work output. This faulty functioning leads only to disorders, illnesses, and "blow-ups" in our families, communities and places of work. The moment you unlock these truths though (stepping stones, remember!), your life will start to unfold. It's choosing the red pill — aka, you stay curious on what you can do, contribute and create — you prioritize building your life on truth.
Get Vocal Blog is all about helping you resonate with and identify aspects of your experience, so that you can uncover your own stepping stones; so you can clearly see the blueprint for your own life and how your unluckiest experiences, are actually full of value. You gotta transmute the negative experiences into life. In order to do that, you have to use your voice. Speak, listen, take action, repeat.
Cause when you do — there will be cake.
Thanks for reading. And more so, thanks for being here.
